This is a great team building activity. I’ve done this with my 6th grade class all the way through 12th grade. It’s really challenging and a great way to talk about communication at the end. If you try this activity in class, you will notice that a lot of the times when they try and figure it out, they are in a line and not a circle talking. You can explain to them that when you gather in a circle and look at everyone when you are speaking, you can communicate better. I tell them that’s why I always have them circle up in the center of the gym to talk to them. Also when I tried this activity in college, a student suggested an idea of how to solve the problem (which ended up being the answer) and I said right away that it wouldn’t work. This proves the point that it doesn’t hurt to try others ideas because at the end, the student turned out to be right and I was wrong.
