4v4 to 2 Goals: Split the class into small teams and assign two teams to play each other. In this video we have a purple team and a green team. This game is played with 4 goals, each team has two goals they have to attack and two goals they must defend. In this particular game we didn’t play with GK’s but you could if you wanted to. This game is a little more complicated than 4-Goal hockey because instead of being able to score on any goal you have to score on a pre-determined goal. This makes it easier to defend thus making it harder to score. When playing games to multiple goals I talk to the class about looking up and deciding which goal would be easier to score in based on where the defenders are. As a variation you could play make-it, take-it. When your team scores they get the puck and are now attacking the other goals (this would be interesting with GK’s as they would have to run across the gym to get in the new position. With more kids in a class I would have them play amongst each other. A green vs. purple game going on in the same space as a blue vs. red game. This forces the kids to get their head up more to see where the open space is.
