Doesn’t everyone love Pay Day?? Pay Day is a fun way to incorporate exercise, literacy, and money exchange. The students run around 4 cones in the gym, collecting a bill of money each time around (denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100). Once the child has enough money raised to purchase something they desire at the “equipment store” they can buy it and use it in a designated area. The more different the equipment, the better (like stilts, wogglers, or fun balls). They can use it the entire rest of the time or run more laps to increase the money amount to buy other things. Students often combine money to make bigger purchases or will just run laps and see the amount of money they end up making as a whole. There are good opportunities for money counting, decisions of how to spend the money and fitness involved. Gives them a chance to be a grown up and spend the money wisely—or not!
