Grinch Tag

Materials needed: 6 Hula Hoops, items to decorate Christmas tree, tall cones that can act as Christmas trees, colored scooters. Items are put into six separate hula hoops on one side of the gym. 5 cones are setup on the other side with scooters in front of the cones. Spread the items out and place them in the hula hoops. Students are told the story of how the Grinch stole Christmas. After the story, the students are divided into five groups behind the five cones. Grinch and Max are picked as the taggers and they are told they are not allowed to tag the Who’s unless the Who’s grab an item out of the hula hoop. If a Who gets tagged or they fall off of the scooter with an item then they must put it back and carry their scooter back to their team. If they do not get tagged they continue back to their cone and decorate their Christmas tree. The teacher can end them game whenever they choose and I always have the Grinch and Max pick the winners by how well they decorated their tree.
