Alphabet Soup

This is a warm up activity that includes spelling and math skills. You need a lot of letters cut out and laminated. A cone and frisbee for each group. You divide your class into to group of 3 or 4. They go one at a time moving using a locomotion skill. They go to the middle of the room, pick up a letter, and return it to the group and the next person goes. After about 6-8 minutes you stop and give them 2-3 minutes to make words. Each letter in the word is worth 1 point. For example CAT is worth 3 points. If they make a PE word, then each letter is worth 3 points each. For example FOOTBALL is worth 24 points. Have them share their results with the class.
