Treasure Island

Divide class into 4 teams with one team in each corner of the gym. These are the “treasure hunters”. Select 3 players to be “Pirates”. These 3 will guard the treasure in the middle of the gym. Their job is to try to tag anyone who picks up a piece of their treasure. Players line up in a single file line and run out to the middle one at a time from each team to try to steal a piece of treasure from the Pirates. If the treasure hunter makes it back to their corner (hula hoop, or mat) they get to keep the treasure. If they are tagged by a Pirate, they must put the treasure back in the middle and go back empty handed. After about 2 minutes stop the game and have teams count their treasure. Choose 3 new pirates and begin a new game. Variation: assign a point value to different colored beanbags. Have students add up the value of the bags at the end. Ex. yellow=3, blue=2 red=1. . .
