I purchased this game from GOPHER. It has 32 Bocce balls and 2 target balls. I hae played it with 3rd – 5th grades. This allows for two different games to be played at once or one large game. Teams throw 1 of their 8 balls at a time, alternating back and forth (1 yellow ball, 1 blue ball, 1 yellow, 1 blue ect.) The goal is to be the team that has the most balls closest to the white target ball. Scoring: the team with the ball closest to the white target ball is the team that gets the point or points for the round. The scoring team gets 1 point for each ball that is closer to the white ball than the other teams ball.
This is a fun game for the kids. The biggest hurdle is getting them to understand the scoring. After a couple of rounds with me walking them through the scoring, they were able to score on their own. Occasionally, I had to help if the distance between colors was very close.
This game also helps students learn how different strageties can be used in games. Players are allowed to hit the other team balls or the white target ball in order to gain the prime position.
