Four Walls

Description / Objective: This is a great warm-up activity for grades 3-8. Students have to listen as you call out a number from 1-4. Each wall is given a number. When a number is called, students must run and put at least one hand on the wall. The last student to do so is “out”.

Equipment:  NONE

Set-Up: NONE

Rules:

1) The class gathers in the center of the gym.

2) Number each wall from 1 -4

3) When a number (from 1-4) is called, the students must try to get to that numbered wall as fast as possible and put at least one hand on the wall. The last student to do so is “out” and goes to the center of the gym. (Note: an option here would be students that are “out” can do a fitness related activity).

4) The game continues until there is only one student remaining….the champion.

Other notes….

1) Try to call out different numbers quickly. This not only makes the students think quickly but also adds to the fun of the game.

2) While calling out a number of a wall, point to a different wall (i.e. if you call out “2”, point to wall 4)
