Classroom Management: Creative Commands

Have you ever gotten tired of blowing your whistle or yelling out instructions to your class? Have you ever wanted to find a different way of controlling your class? Well, this video may be what you have been looking for. Instead of using your whistle or your loud voice, all you have to do is to give out a “Creative Command” …and watch how fast your class will get quiet and listen.

Simply come up with a “Creative Command” such as “Apple” then instruct the class that when they hear the word “Apple”, they get into a pose that you have decided (i.e. sitting Indian style with their arms folded). These commands are not only fun for the kids, but it makes them listen carefully to directions and get themselves into a posture as soon as they can.
