Bowling with Objects – Rube Goldberg

Rube Goldberg was a famous 1920s cartoonist who contrived inventions to execute a simple task. We brought that idea to our bowling unit. Each group of students is given different types of equipment to construct a series of reactions starting by the bowling ball and ending in knocking down at least one pin. Creativity, action and reaction, and collaboration are vital to the success of the process and product of this activity. The students are graded on how many different types of equipment used, amount of reactions, the outcome, and the diagram drawn of what is seen in the gym.
