Clown Hat Bowling

Clown Hat Bowling is a throwing and catching activity which is played in zones. To play the game divide students into 2 teams and then select half of the team to be throwers and half of the team to be guards. The throwers for each team are located at the middle of the gym throwing away from the center line towards tennis balls sitting on traffic cones. Guards may block any ball thrown at a tennis ball, but they may not touch the tennis ball with any part of their bodies. Once a guard blocks a ball, he/she should then retrieve it and throw it over the opposing teams throwers to the throwers on their own team. Throwers from either team may intercept under thrown balls. After each round switch guards and throwers and play again. Encourage students to think about using angles by throwing the balls off the walls in order to hit the tennis balls.
