In this Front Range Physical Education weekly recap, Coach Carroll and Coach Megan look back at the first week of PE and preview what’s coming in Week 2.
This week included:
– **Say My Name Rock Paper Scissors** — including a simple K–2 modification that made the game much easier to manage
– **Four Corner Tag** — a high-movement game we’ll continue into Week 2
– A great start with our Pre-K classes
– An unexpected Week 1 evaluation from our Director of Curriculum and Instruction
– And, of course, the traditional back-to-school sickness…with an ear infection and a volleyball to the ear thrown in for good measure!
For Week 2, we’ll continue working through some of my favorite **substitute games**—activities that are simple to teach, require minimal setup, and keep students moving.
Coming up:
🏃 **Four Corner Tag**
🔄 **Spin the Pin Cone Flip**
Both games are available here on the Front Range Physical Education YouTube channel.
Next week, I’ll be back with another recap to share what worked, what I changed, and what I learned from actually teaching these lessons.
If you’re a PE teacher, classroom teacher, substitute teacher, or anyone looking for easy-to-use movement activities, I hope these weekly recaps give you a few ideas you can take directly into your own classes.
