Capture the Cone is one of my all-time favorite PE invasion games – like Capture the Flag but with colorful cones instead of flags! It’s fast-paced, super modifiable, and works amazingly for grades K-8 (or even higher with twists). In this video, I walk you through:
Step-by-step equipment setup (gym mats as home bases & dividers, 20 multi-colored cones, hula hoops for jails)
Basic rules + jail variation for strategy and teamwork
Action footage from real classes showing kids dodging, tagging, capturing, and having a blast
Easy modifications for skill focus (dribbling, throwing, etc.) or large groups
This game keeps everyone moving, builds agility, strategy, and cooperation – perfect for subs, units, or just fun Fridays!
