Co teaching

A new PE teacher was hired to give the students a second OR period during the week. Unfortunately we cannot put a curtain or wall due to fire hazard laws and not enough egress in the gym. We had to co teach. I don't know how to do this. Any ideas?

We teach the two classes as one large class. I plan and teach the K-2's and my coworker does the same for grades 3-5. We found this was easier for the students to know who the lead teacher is. The other teacher is the helping teacher who deals with behavior management or sets up equipment while lead teacher is giving directions. We both help students one to one, deal with injured student, assess students, etc. during the activities. This model has allowed us to use music as well unlike when we used to pull the curtain.
